During the first session we can agree when we meet and the length of session you would like. Standard sessions are 50 minutes but this can be adjusted to suit your needs. You can keep coming to see me for as long as you find it helpful.
Sessions will be held at 2 Betts Avenue, Martlesham Heath Business Park, Ipswich, IP5 3RH.
It is expected that our session will begin at the agreed time. If the session begins after this time we will still have to finish on time.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This can be found on the BACP’s website at Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Apart from the exceptions listed below, the content of our sessions will be kept confidential:
- If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or another.
- If a Court Order is issued or a Coroner asks to see my notes.
- If you share information about a proposed act of terrorism/money laundering/drug trafficking.
- If there is a request by the Police for information regarding a road traffic accident.
If an issue does arise and wherever possible, we would try and come to a decision on how to proceed together.
I am required by the BACP to attend supervision as a way of reflecting on the work we do together. I do not often use names. If I do, only your first name will be used. My supervisor is bound by the same level of confidentiality as I am.
I make brief notes after each session to help me in my work with you and these are disclosed to no-one other than possibly my supervisor. If you would prefer I didn’t keep notes we can discuss this, however as it is recommended by my professional body and insurance company that I keep notes, it may be difficult not to keep some form of record.
Please try and give at least 48 hours notice of any cancellation and I will try and do the same. If less than 24 hours notice is given or you do not turn up for your session, the full fee will be payable. The fee is chargeable without this notice because I am unable to offer this space to anyone else.
I have a social media presence and you are welcome to look at anything related to The Bridge Counselling Service. I will not communicate through any social media presence and please be aware that if you make any comment, your anonymity may be compromised.
If you wish to come to counselling primarily to discuss issues around adoption, please be aware that you have the right to access adoption support services. I can help you find a registered adoption support agency.
Details of what information I hold, why and how it is used are available by viewing the Privacy Notice. If you would like a printed copy, please ask.
